Yesterday was terrible. My staff totally dropped the ball, and left us looking totally embarassed in front of our client. It was bad, and I was as mad at my people as I have ever been. But I have to let it go.
Today I have mediation locally, so I will be riding the Vespa on a hot day - triple digits in the forecast. This is a bad case.
My investigation uncovered some thing that is a problem. I do not know if the other side is aware, because the records look good - it is the practice that creates a risk. The upside is that the client is at a lot of risk, so that gives me a lot of latitude to settle it for less and get them a good outcome.

Let’s hope opposing counsel isn’t secretly Oppo!

Well that sucks! Use it as a teachable moment for your staff. You do indeed need to let go of the anger, but use the incident as an opportunity to make them better.
